Elite TV Unveiling

Gary Hughes, our Buyer, was at the Elite TV unveiling in New York. Here is what he had to say

The demo was of two identical 70 inchers side by side in a "screening room" setting. Seating was comfortable and terraced in a neutral grey room with hi hat lighting. First the sets were used to display several typical industry slides the speakers used during the presentation. These slides were all in black on white and incorporated a lot of diagonal lines (a pyramid of features for instance). Without saying so, the white backgrounds were used to demonstrate the uniform and perfect whites, and the diagonals showed off the smoothness of these lines

Then the lights were dimmed to the point where the wall behind the sets appeared black, and the demo began. When it started, I was literally blown back in my seat as if I had gone from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds! I actually gasped and said to myself "my God the blacks are BLACK!" The material used was filmed (videoed?) at an amusement park at night. The sky was black with brightly lit amusement rides in the foreground and fireworks in the background. You could not tell where the black sky (the TV) ended and the background wall began unless the program had lights at the edge of the shot. The lights on the rides, and the fireworks were bright bright bright with no halo or ghosting effect whatever. And the background directly around the lights remained true black. The only one-word I can use to describe it is ASTONISHING! Any consumer who owns a KURO plasma set, that might soon need replacing, has no reason to look at anything else. Any discerning videophile need look no further.

Mr. Kevin Miller, head technical guru at ISF, was present and spoke about the technology. If you are not familiar with ISF, please Google it. Among other feature topics, he detailed the advantages of the RGB+Y technology used. He mentioned that these TV's are THX certified in 2D and in 3D as well, and that when in THX mode, the calibration menus are NOT locked out. This should make our really high-end CI guys very happy. Mr. Miller finished by stating that these were not only the best LED TV's he has ever seen, but possibly the best FLATSCREENS he has ever seen! He owns a KURO himself that he uses for reference, and by making this statement he implies that they are better than KURO.

Unbelievable TV experience! Simply unbelievable!
